a nail salon is covered by smoke and fire damage When your business is impacted by a fire, we are here to help you.

When SERVPRO of Atchafalaya was called to respond to the aftermath of a fire at this nail salon, we knew there were two primary things our customer would be most concerned with:

We were able to reassure them that our crew would be capable of helping them achieve both outcomes.

SERVPRO of Atchafalaya was able to get on site quickly, remove fire-damaged materials, clean up the soot residue, and get the commercial property back to pre-damage condition. Faulty Sprinkler System Causes Water Damage

hospital hallway with standing water from sprinkler system malfunction SERVPRO of Atchafalaya is equipped to respond to water damage of any size.

When a sprinkler system in this hospital malfunctioned, nearly half of the facility had been doused with four inches of water. SERVPRO of Atchafalaya was called out to help get all the water removed and the facility cleaned.

Once our crew arrived at the hospital, water extraction was the first thing that needed to happen. Once all of the water had been properly removed from the property, we ensured that the space was dry and wouldn't incur secondary damage as a result of exposure to the water. Our team then thoroughly cleaned the impacted portion of the facility so that it would be available for use by the hospital.

After our mitigation was complete, our clients from the hospital were very pleased with the end results; and happy customers make us happy!

Leaky Sink Causes Water Damage

SERVPRO of Atchafalaya was called out to a home that had a perpetual leak from their sink that had caused water damage. After our team arrived on site, they assessed the extent of the damage to the home, and took multiple moisture readings. From that information, they were able to determine the appropriate number of dehumidifiers and air movers that were needed to efficiently and effectively dry out the space.

Once the proper equipment was in place, we monitored it, and took additional readings daily until the entire space and its contents were dry. Though the air movers and dehumidifiers can be loud, it is important that they remain on until our technicians turn them off. This is to ensure that the drying time is quicker, and that it's dried properly.

The Benefit of Having an ERP

doorway in hospital after water loss You don't know when an emergency will happen, but you can be as prepared as possible by setting up an ERP.

This photograph is from a water loss at a local hospital that is a client of SERVPRO of Atchafalaya.

They didn't know that this particular loss would occur, but they knew the odds that something unexpected could happen were high, and they wanted to be prepared, just in case.

They sat down with SERVPRO of Atchafalaya and set up a free ERP (Emergency Ready Profile), which documented all of the important contact information, ensured that priorities were communicated and followed, and ensured that, should a water, fire, or storm loss occur, and we all knew what steps could be taken immediately following a loss so that further damage and secondary damage could be avoided.

Because the ERP was in place, we knew exactly what to do, and our team was able to clean up the water and have the hospital back to full functionality in no time!

If you want to help protect your business by preparing for whatever could come, please call us today and set up a free ERP consultation!

Leaks Can Cause More Than Just Water Damage

10/16/2019 (Permalink)

the bare bones framework of a home after all the mold contaminated materials had been removed Water leaks, if left unchecked long enough, can not only result in water damage, but also mold damage.

SERVPRO of Atchafalaya is a local restoration franchise that is extensively trained to perform mitigation for water damage, fire damage, storm damage, and mold damage.

Mold damage in particular can be tricky to treat. If it is discovered early enough, it is something that our technicians are certified to remediate. Some manifestations of mold are caught early enough that they can be treated.

In the case of this home, however, an undiscovered leak continued for some time, and even a thorough cleaning wouldn't be enough to remove all traces of mold. That left SERVPRO of Atchafalaya no choice but to remove all of the contaminated material, treat the remaining components of the structure to prevent mold from growing in the future, and prep the home for reconstruction.

Don't Wait with Water Damage

mold forming on an interior wall This mold is a direct result of a water damage event that was not addressed quickly.

When you experience a water leak in your home or business, don't wait to get it fixed. If you suspect that the leak had been going on for awhile prior to your discovery of it, don't hesitate to call SERVPRO of Atchafalaya to determine whether or not there is a potential mold issue.

We hope that you don't have to experience mold but, if you do have some on your property, our experienced and certified professionals are equipped to determine how to remove the affected area, if necessary, as well as how to treat the problem so that it doesn't reoccur or cause further damage.

In this photo here, you can see the evidence of mold growth on a wall that originated from a water loss that was not addressed immediately. Instead of possibly being able to simply dry out the space, majority of the drywall and insulation had to be completely removed and replaced.

Restore vs. Replace

10/15/2019 (Permalink)

hallway flooring buckling after water damage When we are able to, we restore rather than replace. But, whether we restore or replace, we make sure our customers are taken care of!

SERVPRO of Atchafalaya is professionally trained and certified to remediate water damage, mold damage, storm damage, and fire damage. Though the way we approach each type of loss varies slightly, depending on what each job requires, the respect and care we show in each is the same.

One way we show respect is in the way we handle our customers' belongings. Whenever possible, we aim to restore damaged items, rather than replace them.

Sometimes, though, that isn't possible. In this particular water damage, water soaked into the floorboards, causing them to warp and swell. It was not possible to restore the floors and leave our customer's home in pre-damaged condition, which is not how we do business. We tore the floorboards up, dried out the subfloor, and prepared the space for installation of new flooring. It's our priority to help make it "Like it never even happened."

Flooded Bank

10/15/2019 (Permalink)

green drying equipment in the lobby of a bank after a flood After a massive flood, this bank had to be gutted from floor to ceiling.

Before SERVPRO of Atchafalaya could even begin remediating the damage to this bank after a massive flood, all the mud and gunk needed to be removed to ensure that our team was safe working on site.

Because of the extreme nature of the flooding, the entire facility had to be stripped of majority of its materials. Once all the damaged components were disposed of, we brought our drying equipment in order to get the moisture to appropriate levels. Once the facility was dried, an antimicrobrial product was applied to all flooring and studs to prevent additional damage from occurring.

After SERVPRO of Atchafalaya was finished with the remediation process, the customer was relieved, and happy to be able to begin reconstruction knowing that the mitigation of the storm damage had been done well.
